What can we learn from the 2012 Presidential campaign? I personally try to use every experience as a learning tool. So, when I saw the following billboard, I got to thinking.
What does this mean and why would my answer be yes or no? I realized before I could present an answer for this question I first had to find the deeper question. The billboard says “Obama supports gay marriage and abortion do you?” But, after giving it much thought, the deeper question appeared to be quite different than the question posed on the billboard. So, what’s the deeper question? Well, here it is. “Obama supports human rights and individuals’ right to choose. Do you?” I’m sure the answer to this question will vary greatly across America. My point is this, no matter what you’re faced with in life, whether it’s your career, business, or relationships, before you make any major decisions be sure to always consider the deeper question. Doing so can prevent many mistakes and minimize huge setbacks.

Taking this perspective is also a display of “thinking outside the box” and realizing that despite President Obama’s personal belief, he has to make decisions based on the affect they will take on the country (the people) as a whole. He does not cave in to a percentage of Americans who supports a forum of judgment or who set standards because they feel uncomfortable with a certain lifestyle or choice of someone else. Our ingenious President knows he has to respect a person’s human rights. If he steps in the arena of leading the country similar to a dictatorship, he will cause an uprise or at minimum, cause political suicide. This comment may be extreme, but I just want to drive the point home that the majority of U.S. citizens will not tolerate a form of politics that disregards adults’ personal decisions. They already know that one step in that direction will become an incubator to setbacks of other human rights.
